Get Started

Tuner is a minimal pitch tuner for iPhone. It listens through the microphone and shows the nearest note, the detected frequency, and a simple low to high tuning meter.

Requirements

  • iOS 26 or later
  • Microphone access
  • A pitched sound from an instrument, voice, or synthesizer

Tune a Sound

  1. Open Tuner.
  2. Allow microphone access when iOS asks.
  3. Play or sing one steady note.
  4. Watch the note and frequency readout.
  5. Adjust until the meter is centered.

Reading the Meter

  • Left means the pitch is lower than the nearest note.
  • Center means the pitch is close enough to the target note.
  • Right means the pitch is higher than the nearest note.

Settings

Use Settings to choose sharp or flat note names and adjust the A4 reference frequency. The default reference is 440 Hz.

Status Messages

Tuner may show a status message when the input cannot be tuned reliably.

  • Too quiet: the microphone input is below the detection threshold.
  • Unstable: the pitch is moving too much to report a stable note.
  • Microphone unavailable: the microphone is unavailable or permission was denied.
